We Are the Butterfly Effect By Dr. Bruce Purnell
A wing does not ask if it’s enough,
It knows like a diamond, even when it’s rough.
A breath of Love, a choice to heal,
Can shift the things a heart can feel.
A whispered truth, a softened tone,
Can break a pattern overgrown.
A single light, though small it seems,
Can wake a house from heavy dreams.
We heal ourselves, but not alone,
Our roots are shared, our branches grown.
And every time we choose to be kind,
we release the pain that’s in our minds.
No more waiting for the signs
It’s already here, and now it’s your time.
Your wings were never made for show,
They’re made to transform the world you know.

What if your healing was never just about you? What if every breath of courage, every act of forgiveness, and every choice to heal sent ripples through your family, your neighborhood, and the world around you? This Butterfly Monday, we embrace a powerful truth: We are the Butterfly Effect, and our healing is not isolated, private, or limited to ourselves. Together, we will explore what it means to become the prayer and affirmation of healing, love, and transformation in our homes, relationships, and communities. Come prepared to reflect, reconnect, and remember: even the smallest movement in love can change everything.
The butterfly effect shows us that small actions can lead to big consequences, a tiny change can alter an entire environment, and a simple choice can have a ripple effect across generations. This is where theory meets reality in both spirit and science. Every time we choose healing over hiding, truth over performance, forgiveness over bitterness, or Love over fear, we send energy into the world that reaches far beyond ourselves. That is why transformation is never just personal but also relational, communal, and ancestral.
Many of us were taught to see healing as private, personal, and separate. We were told to keep our pain hidden, to survive quietly, and to cope silently. But the truth is that trauma spreads through families and communities. It travels through tone, tension, habits, and inherited patterns. If pain can ripple, then healing can ripple too. This is the core idea of the Butterfly Effect.
When one person learns to rest, the children observing them gain permission to rest.
When one person breaks the cycle of violence, a family finds a new language.
When one person chooses joy after years of numbness, everyone in the room senses the change.

Our healing shifts the emotional environment around us, our love redefines the frequencies of the spaces we inhabit, and our presence can act as a portal. To say “We Are the Butterfly Effect” is to accept a sacred responsibility. It means recognizing that our transformation is both a gift and a duty. It also means understanding that every healed part of ourselves becomes medicine for someone else.
This Butterfly Monday, we are invited to stop waiting for change to come from somewhere else and become the change that we have been waiting for. We are invited to become the ripple, the shift. and the butterfly effect.

Exercise: Mapping My Ripple
Purpose
Help Journeyers see how their healing, habits, and energy influence others, and identify one intentional change they want to make.
Part 1: The Ripple Reflection
Take a few quiet moments and reflect on the following:
Self
• What is one healing choice I have made that changed the way I feel about myself?
• What part of me has begun to soften, strengthen, or awaken?
Family
• How does my mood, tone, or healing affect the people closest to me?
• What family pattern have I reinforced, or interrupted, through my choices?
Community
• What energy do I usually bring into a room?
• How might my presence be shaping my community without me even realizing it?
Part 2: Draw Your Ripple
On a page, draw three circles, one inside the other.
Center Circle: Me
Write one healing decision you are making for yourself.
Second Circle: My Family / Inner Circle
Write one way your healing could bless, shift, or challenge those around you.
Outer Circle: My Community / World
Write one ripple effect you hope your healing creates in the wider world.
Part 3: Relationship, Family, or Group Share
• One healing choice from your center circle
• One ripple you’ve already seen
• One ripple you want to create next
Then answer together:
What would happen if more of us realized that our healing is never private?
Part 4: The Butterfly Effect Commitment
Complete this sentence:
Because I am the Butterfly Effect, this week I will…
Examples:
• speak more gently in my home
• choose rest without guilt
• forgive one small thing
• smile first
• tell one truth
• create one brave space
Quiz
How Am I Affecting the World Around Me?
Rate each statement from 1 (Rarely) to 5 (Always)
I believe my healing impacts more than just me.

I notice how my mood affects the energy of a room.

I am intentional about what I bring into my family or community.

I believe small acts of Love can create meaningful change.

I have seen patterns in my family shift when one person chooses differently.

I believe my joy has value beyond my own personal experience.

I think about how my words and actions ripple outward.

I am committed to being a healing presence in the spaces I occupy.

Reflection
• Which answer reveals your power?
• Which answer reveals where you may still underestimate your influence?
• How might your healing become medicine for others?

We are becoming the “Social Architects” and “Social Alchemists” who will design our healing and transformation.  Let’s affirm and manifest our divine cocoons together. #WeAreTheButterflyEffect
