Before My Wings Move By Dr. Bruce Purnell
Before my wings move, I release the fears,
A quiet choice the spirit hears.
A softened word, a breath held deep,
A truth once buried starts to speak.
Before the ripple, there’s a flame,
A heart that dares to shift the name.
What once was fear can now be grace,
What once was pain can change its place.
No motion small, no healing slight,
A single spark can birth new light.
The future bends when Love breaks through,
And what you choose begins in you.
So move with care, with faith, with sight,
For little wings can change the night.
Love More
What if the smallest change in your life was never really small? What if one thought, one decision, one act of courage, one moment of forgiveness, or one pause before reacting could have the power to transform your entire life, your family, and your community? This Butterfly Monday, we will focus on the sacred power of cause and effect through the lens of the Butterfly Effect. Together, we will explore what it means to stop living reactively and start living intentionally.
We will ask:
• What am I setting in motion with my choices?
• What patterns am I unknowingly reinforcing?
• What becomes possible when I move with intention instead of impulse?
The butterfly effect reminds us that transformation is not random, and the flap of our wings, prayers, mindfulness, pause, truth, vision, and action matter. The truth is that small causes create powerful effects, intentional healing creates generational ripples, and becoming begins with awareness.
Join us as we move from accidental living to sacred alignment.
Many of us were raised to believe that life simply happens to us. We respond, cope, adapt, and survive. However, healing and transformation reveal a deeper truth: life not only occurs around us but is also influenced by what we choose to initiate.
This is the sacred lesson of cause and effect.
Every pattern has an origin, a vision, and a story of creation. Every cycle begins with an initiating trigger; transformation starts at a certain point, and before the ripple spreads, something must set the movement in motion. Before the sacred shift we’ve been waiting for happens, an intention must be set in motion; therefore, before the butterfly effect becomes visible, the wings must flap.
The challenge is that many of us have been living without truly understanding our identity, thoughts, desires, behavior, divine gifts, and divine purpose. We recognize exhaustion but don’t understand its cause; we see conflict but rarely identify the wound that sustains it; and we notice loneliness but overlook the performance that disconnects us. The butterfly effect teaches us that small actions matter, including establishing new boundaries, affirmations, breathing, listening, resting, forgiving, and speaking the truth. As hard as it may be, we must journey through the abyss of the root causes that shape our futures, both nightmares and dreams.
This is why intentionality is sacred.
A Journeyer who begins to choose Love over fear is setting a new impression in motion. A parent who opts for regulation instead of rage creates a different emotional atmosphere for the next generation. A community that chooses joy amid trauma creates a crack in the old script and sparks a new narrative, and a new becoming.
Love, Joy, Hope, Forgiveness, and Transformation are not arbitrary but relational, spiritual, and responsive. When we become intentional about cause and effect, we shift from asking, “What is happening to me?” to asking, “What am I creating, reinforcing, or interrupting?” This is how healing becomes a conscious practice, and the butterfly effect becomes more than just a theory. Becoming intentional means that:
• Before the wings move, there is awareness.
• Before the ripple expands, there is a choice.
• Before the world changes, a decision is made to change the pattern.

We are not waiting for someone who is going to change the world to come; that someone is “US”.
Exercise
Mapping My Ripple

Part 1: Name the Effect
Write down one recurring pattern in your life that you want to understand more clearly.
Examples:
• exhaustion
• conflict
• disconnection
• self-doubt
• fear of rest
• repeating unhealthy relationships
Now ask:
What effect keeps showing up in my life?
Part 2: Look for the Cause
Gently explore:
• What belief may be feeding this pattern?
• What behavior keeps reinforcing it?
• What emotional reaction keeps repeating it?
Complete this sentence:
This effect may be connected to the cause of…
Part 3: Choose a New Cause
Now choose one intentional shift you can make this week.
Examples:
• pause before reacting
• tell one truth
• rest without guilt
• set one boundary
• ask for help
• practice one affirmation daily
Complete:
A new cause I will set in motion is…
Part 4: Imagine the Ripple
Ask yourself:
If I keep making this one shift, what might change in:
• me
• my family
• my community
Write one sentence beginning with:
If I move differently, the ripple may become…
Quiz
Am I Living Intentionally or Reactively?
Rate each from 1 (Rarely) to 5 (Often)

1. I pause to think about the long-term effects of my choices.

2. I notice patterns in my life and wonder what causes them.

3. I believe my small decisions matter.

4. I often react before reflecting.

5. I can identify beliefs that may be shaping my behavior.

6. I understand that healing choices ripple into other areas of life.

7. I feel empowered to interrupt unhealthy cycles.

8. I believe intentional Love can create real change.
Reflection
• Which answers show reactivity?
• Which answers show awareness?
• What one area of your life is asking for more intentionality?

Join us as we move from accidental living to sacred alignment.

We are becoming the “Social Architects” and “Social Alchemists” who will design our healing and transformation.  Let’s affirm and manifest our divine cocoons together. #WeAreTheButterflyEffect
